A47 ROADWORKS
The Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps granted the planning application called a Development Consent Order (DCO) on Friday 12th August 2022, which allows National Highways to proceed with the plans to improve the A47 between North Tuddenham to Easton.

The Contractors for this work, Galliford Try, have informed the Parish Council that several footpaths in the Parish will be affected by this work. The paths affected include:

The Lyng Road connecting path and cycle path with the A47 and onward path to Hockering will be permanently closed from 30 Sep 2024 for construction of the new Lyng Road junction and access road in Hockering.

Mattishall Lane will be temporarily closed for preparation work in early Oct 2024 then reopened. It will than be permanently closed for earthworks from the Spring 2025. While not a footpath many people use this as a connecting route.

Gypsy Lane (Hockering FP7) and the footpath running to the west (Hockering FP8) will be permanently closed from 30 Sep 2024.

Honingham Restricted Byway 1 (RB1) from Dereham Road northwards, will be closed permanently from 23 Sep. The footpath (Honingham FP3) between Dereham Road, Honingham, and Berrys Lane will be closed for a short period from 30 Sep 2024 for Anglian Water diversion work and preparation for future installation of the new footpath and cycle way.

The footpath from Honingham Roundabout to Taverham Road is already partially closed for BT, Anglian Water and UK Power Networks diversionary work. This will remain closed for more preparation work during October. Access to the Church will be maintained as safety allows.

The A47 crossing from Easton to Dog Lane/Ringland Lane will be permanently closed from the summer of 2026.
